The Federal Signal Informer Programmer includes a network programming cable, a serial communications cable, a network-to-serial cable adapter, a 9 VDC 500ma power adapter, and Informer programming software.
The Informer Programmer is set up by connecting the serial communications cable to an available COM port on the computer and to the DB9 side of the network-to-serial cable adapter. The network programming cable is connected to the network side of the network-to-serial cable adapter and to the Informer’s network connection. Add power to the Informer with the power adapter. A green Power LED should light and a short beep should be heard. Install and run the latest version of the Informer programming software. The Federal Signal Informer is a commercial grade Tone Alert Receiver (TAR) designed for use in situations that require an emergency alert. The Informer incorporates a large 4” speaker that creates a very loud output for both live voice and audio alerts. The device can be wall mounted or placed on a desktop and comes with a small detached antenna that can be connected to the back of the Informer for optimum signal reception. This rear connection can also be used to connect an alternative antenna that may be situated in a remote location. VHF, UHF, or Low Band frequency models are available and the Informer operates with narrowband channel spacing.
